Looks like they did! As far as a speakerectomy goes, I am an audiophile at heart and was thoroughly impressed with this setup. Even by today's standards this is a high-end audio system. Once that is established, it appears to be a clean car with some age related issues under the paint - not surprising where it spent most of its life and correctable.\n\nI was about to comment on the two holes cut into the door cards for the speakers, then I saw the rear shelf. I personally would get rid of all the sound equipment and start fresh with new door cars and a small discrete modern system. \n\nI owned an Agave 73 that I purchased from Vermont a few years back, but the paint was not as shiny as this one but it did not have the bubbles forming on it as this one does. They need to be addressed immediately. Do not be surprised once you start stripping that you find more issues especially around the glass and the drain area for the sun roof. Is it period-correct? No. But then again it was never meant to be. When he designed the car Al Cath went over the top in every regard. These rare and desirable upgrades are a lot of fun and that LSD with 75% locking is down right mischievous! I've never had so much fun going 0-60 in 7.8 seconds!\n\nWhat always striked me about this car is that no matter where it goes it draws attention. Even when it's parked next to a pristine example it just seems to pull people in. There is something to be said about that. It is the perfect example of what makes 2002s such a great car to own. You can do anything your imagination can dream up to them and they will always remain a 2002 at heart. This one was the poster boy for Al Cath's imagination and anyone who was a part of the New England 2002 culture knows it's something special.
