They work so well as are light and only required little modification for the mid engine application. Problem is that they were only really designed to see about 200 - 250 ftlbs of torque. The v8's in particular have a lot more than that and the ecu limits boost in 1 and 2nd gears as well as the motor being detuned from 550bhp or so at full potential to the 350bhp. Furthermore, 5th gear sits out on the end of the secondary shaft hanging beyond the last bearing. As such, no one in a Esprit Turbo should go off throttle back on to full throttle in 5th gear. There was indeed a 2004 model which was the \"Final Run Edition\" of which 33 were made for the U.S. In California, they were sold as a 2003.5 model somehow to get around some environmental crap that went into effect out there for 2004 model year cars. Nothing too challenging, and the effort to do the timing belts is over exaggerated. 2002 was the first year for the OZ Nova wheels to be stock, which this car has, and are definitely the most desirable of the wheels. I have a 4 cyl and V8 and I stopped driving the 4 cyl and should sell it. The V8 is so much better in so many ways. I drive my v8 2-3 times per week. I get high teens MPG.
