The spare tire well says the avocado green is the original color. And that well looks like it contains the original Bridgestone spare on its original steel wheel. \r\n\r\nThe underside looks to be in excellent shape, probably due to a combination of sympathetic owner(s) and being a California car probably its whole life. There\u2019s even some avocado overspray adding some protection under there.\t\r\n\r\nAnd it\u2019s a bonus that it comes with all that original paperwork. As previously stated this is not a \"nut and bolt restoration\", rather an EXTREMELY Solid, numbers matching/California car in which the structural integrity and metal has not been compromised by any rust. On top of this $20,000+ has been put into her in the last two years to EXTENSIVELY go through all mechanical components in which to keep her running on the road for a lifetime (minus the carb tunes she will need every couple years as we all know lol) because after she is a Drivers car and an impeccable one at that. This was a suggestion from mechanic that he finds to work on all his Z car builds, and the buyer can be put into contact with shop owner for a conversation. The choke lever is removed, but all cables are still in place right below to carbs. \r\n@saccyclone the heater core was bypassed for \u201coptimal flow\u201d we hit consistent 100 degrees during summertime where past owner lived and this was a suggestion from mechanic as well. This is what we used to call a Maaco paint job. As in terrible. As in done in my garage, (because I am a terrible painter). Improperly taped off, orange peal, overly thick, etc. And that engine bay! It looks like it may have been painted black in the past, and the painter tried to cover that up by superficially spraying the green all over the place. Including on the electrical connectors, wiring, shock tower covers, hood latch, throttle linkage, speedo cable, etc, etc, etc. As nice as some aspects of this Z are, it looks like someone bought it with plenty of good work already done and then sprayed on a bargain paint job to freshen it up. If it was the seller, he shouldn't have spent the money on paint. He should have sold it with the original paint, no matter how bad. He wouldn't have had his reserve so high to recoup the paint costs and the buyer wouldn't have the misery trying to undo all this god awfulness. \n\nThis is my favourite Z colour, so I'm sure that drove the bidding. But I should have gone for that brown one @The240zGuild had here a couple of years ago that went RNM at $13K and then reappeared in desert racer trim later only to go RNM again. That poor ol' Z didn't get much love here and it may have been the right one for me. Coulda, shoulda, woulda...
