A few additional things to note:\n\nAccording to the notes we received from the third owner, this was a German-spec car. The second owner was an automotive engineer and had the restoration and build commissioned with Stoddard Imports supplying the parts and doing all body and paint. He claimed that NO reproduction parts were used but everything ordered for the car was NOS purchased through Stoddard. It was a 6-year process, and after completion in the late 90s it won best of show as mentioned in the description. \n\nThe second owner also claimed that the odometer showed actual & original mileage. While we have no documentation to support that claim, it is titled as an actual mileage car through the state of Ohio, which means that there can be no conflicting/higher mileage title transfers or non-actual mileage brands in the NMVTIS database. So, we can't prove that it's original mileage, but we can't disprove it, either!\n\nThe engine was just completely torn down and redone, bottom and top end, including a crankshaft grinding & balancing. The tech at Steinel's noted that whoever originally did the build on the engine knew what they were doing, as the selection of parts worked together to yield the highest possible compression & output that one could get from a 2.4 setup. \n\nSomebody will really enjoy this beauty. This compression works with street gas and is about the most you can do without having to go to twin plugs. I've driven motors of this configuration and they have useable torque and love to rev to redline with the S cams. They can't very well tell their clients their cars are horribly inaccurate but at the same time, saying \"as correct as possible\" makes my ears perk up.\n\nThe claim is \"correct as possible\" but then you have a very simple inaccuracy like the front turn signal lenses having silver frames followed by incorrect door panels, a later dash cover, the wrong seats, wrong sill plates, wrong carpet, wrong wheel finish, mismatched wheel center caps, incorrect color engine fan shroud (this one is factory black whereas the MFI T was yellow, the E was green and the S/RS were red), carbs instead of MFI, incorrect redline on tach, incorrect decal placement in engine compartment (along with incorrect decals- should be [from left to right] alternator/regulator, blank, Carrera 2.7-specific tire pressure, '73-specific oil level decal, valve adjustment, and firing order), wrong fuel tank refinish color, wrong front strut color. I've left out some hardware inaccuracies because 99% of people don't get them right and 99.9% of people don't care.\n\nBuy this for what it is: a car meant to evoke a 911 RS in terms of bodywork and sporting purpose. After being relatively low-priced for a number of years, the older 911s started a price appreciation cycle about 7-10 years ago. Then when prices started getting into the $100k range for great examples, people started shifting their demand to the SC series. As SC's have now gone into the $50K+ range, buyers have found the 1974-77 models better values, and we have seen recently how those have gone up. The values of the 1984-89's have responded too, although they weren't particularly cheap before the current cycle, and 964's and 996's have also developed a following and higher prices. Then the cycle proceeds to where the bidding reaches a level of fewer bidders trying to outbid each other driving prices even higher. After those buyers are satisfied, and other buyers have given up, more sellers come to the market, figuring they can get those prices too. Then the market stagnates for a few years while sellers realize that they won't get the high-point price anymore. Then the prices drop back about a quarter to a third and other buyers come back in to stabilize the prices. Then the market stays more or less static for some years, often a decade or more, before the cycle starts again.
