This MGB-GT looks to be all original (with a few minor exceptions) and all there. A few things I noticed from the photos:\n* air pump and associated emissions gubbins is missing - not surprising, most were removed as soon as the new owner got the car home. Old stock air pumps are out there, if the new owner wants to restore originality (that's really the only reason to replace the air pump, IMHO)\n*stock shift knob has been replaced, and an aftermarket steering wheel cover fitted. The wheel rim is probably in good nick, no cracks or other issues, under that cover. Earlier banjo wheels had cracking problems; later ones like this one ('68 - '69) were much more robust.\n* paint colour does not look like Tartan Red in the photos - T.R. is much darker and very attractive on these GTs.\n* non-original exhaust system\n* the original jack would be nice to have; it should be red with a wood knob on the handle, IIRC. They do come up for sale occasionally, less often as the years pass it seems.\n\nThat's really about it, as far as I can see. This MGB-GT even looks to have the original under-hood padding, original carpets, rubber floor covering, and other usually long gone items. The engine bay looks totally stock and original, including the terrible inverted oil filter and failure-prone oil pressure electric sensor.\n\nI'd usually raise a red flag over the rust issues on any MGB - rust bubbling in the pictured ares can be a sign of much bigger structural problems in the hidden areas immediately behind the bubbly panels. But this one looks as though it's probably OK - underside of rocker panels look solid and floors look good. The photos of the trunk area are really impressive. Good quality replacement patch panels are readily available (and cheap!) for all the rust-bubbled areas on the lower fenders. I'd only have reservations about cutting out the old metal and replacing with new if this car also had original paint; it doesn't, so no harm-no foul. The new owner can do the local rust repairs & repaint only those areas, and leave the rest alone. A repaint in original Tartan Red would be a good thing too, if the budget allowed - unnecessary, but it would be nice to restore the original colour to go along with everything else.\n\nThe biggest problem in getting this MGB-GT back on the road might be finding a pair of the missing headrests. One year only (1969), they are tall and sort of chicklet-shaped; I didn't like the look of them when they were on my '69 roadster, but this car deserves to have a replacement set installed to carry on the fabulous \"original\" vibe that it has.\n\nThis beautiful little machine is just crying out for a sympathetic refurbishment and registration for the road after its 20 year sleep. Owned and maintained by a meticulous (obsessive?) owner(s), the extensive service records and original paperwork are like gold in the old car world. It looks like it would be an enjoyable and rewarding project. I'll be watching this closely; I'd be a bidder but I already have two MGBs (one a \"project\" that's much bigger than this one).\n\nHmmmm... maybe I could replace my current project car with this one? These cars were amazingly well built and documented from new, and they were mostly abused and junked when 10 years old. Because of this, the BMHT came out with the record document available today which usually only has a fraction of the information available on the car's sale and warranty docs, Passport to Service, etc. Since the majority of Americans got the cars and could barely bother to change the oil regularly, the warranty was forgotten, paperwork tossed by second year. \nAnyway, engine numbers were written on the docs on my car from new, so numbers matching on Brit cars was always available to those keeping the car's paperwork long before the BH started selling docs. The American car matching number thing was started because there is so much info available on the cars plate, much more than the Brit cars. So after the muscle car was flipped in a ditch and in the junk yard, one could determine it was a 428 or whatever and the millions built and hundreds of combos created some low number configs that people seek to restore and sell for potential gain. Rust repair and paint matching is about all driver might need but the paint could be improved upon. The various rubber bits are likely OE and could stand replacement. The interior shows even wear except the door cards which look newer. Compared to expected exterior, the interior will look a little shabby. Having the bucket seats rebuilt and recovered along with a carpet kit would spruce things up. So would a replacement dash pad, new seatbelts, and a new headliner.\n\nCubic dollars may determine the 'when to stop' point. Even so this car a great starting point for a full refurbishment/restoration. Very few of the many tasks are beyond the enthusiast's DIY skill set.
