Shelby bought the rolling chassis from Superformance and installed the 427 engine and a Tremec 5 speed to demonstrate that Superformance had cribbed their IP without royalties. Peter Brock designed these (although the nose on the early cars was similar to the '63 cars he designed for Shelby/Ford back in the day and did not look like the nose on this one).
