A company had purchased a brand new Exige with 288 total miles and they pulled the whole drive train out of the car so they could do a GM Ecotec swap. I think they were funded by GM and they sold me everything at a very good price. That engine is in the car now and was installed in mid 2008 when the can finally arrived in California. Each engine only has about 2,000 miles in total with approximately half being road miles and the other half track. The engine that is out of the car is the original engine that Lotus delivered the car with. I know I could have sold all of these part for more money separately but I knew it was very important that all of these parts and especially the original engine be kept together for the historical integrity of this very important car. The 2-Eleven was engineered with the A048s in mind, so what's the first thing we track rats do? Put on Yokohama slics. Now we corner harder and faster and what happens, the oil and gas splash around a lot more. That accusump can't keep up but with the baffled pan, I removed mine. Anyway, my point is that the car is fine as engineered, but once limits are being pushed there are improvements that can safely bring the car to higher limits. If it re-assures any of those looking I can 100% vouch for everything you have said here on your advert, this car was the very first production spec 2-Eleven built, with only one prototype built before it. I met Patrick back in 2004 when I was in the USA for the launch of the federal Elise and was invited to dinner with a group of Lotus drivers. I think it was on that trip that somehow Patrick got us to meet Jay Leno and take a trip round his amazing garage! At some stage Patrick said if I was ever selling a Lotus with chassis number 001 he wanted it.... 2 years later the board had approved what we then called the Circuit Car for production after I had met their challenge of driving it from Hethel to Dijon-en-Prenois on the road before winnning a race in it and driving back home. They baulked at paying for a new car for the Geneva motorshow launch however and said I had to find a way to build a car with no budget. I remembered Patricks offer and gave him a call. As he said I could only tell him the bare basics of what the car would be, but he was good to his word and paid on the spot, giving me the cash to go ahead and build the car. If he hadn't done that I doubt the 2-Eleven would have made it to production as the board were nervous of such a radical concept and it was the ease with which I sold that first car that persuaded them to agree to it going ahead. Thanks Patrick!! One thing Patrick hasn't mentioned is that the plan was for he and Anne to collect the car, tour the UK for a week or so and then head over to drive around Europe. Only after he and Anne had left Hethel ( we were so impressed with her by the way, putting up with the luggage jammed under her legs!) did we get a call from Goodwood inviting us to run the 2-Eleven at the Festival of Speed. I called Patrick straight away and asked if he fancied changing his plans and running his car up the hill as our next car wasn't ready. He hesitated for about half a second before changing his plans and we met him at Goodwood just 2 weeks later. We managed to make it pretty special for him, with an invite to take part in a MIllionaires private test day on the circuit the day before the event ( I got to ride in a type 37 Bugatti!) and entry to the drivers club etc, plus of course the drive up the hill with Patrick Dempsey. It was a very special event for all of us.\nPatrick is nearly right about the name of the car. I wanted to call it the Ethos as it so closely followed ACBC's ethos of simplicity and light weight, but Mike Kimberley liked the name so much he wanted to reserve it for a larger volume car in the future. He suggested Eleven in homage to the original Mk11and I was delighted and honoured that that should be the choice. Just after we had had the first few plates made up bearing the name Eleven the board changed it's mind and insisted on 2-Eleven to differentiate the car from the original. He said insisted that I park it in the disabled spot right out front so he could keep an eye on it all night. He also added that they don\u2019t get any disabled visitors so it would be fine. I thought that odd but I have seen enough Fawlty Towers to know better than to argue. \r\n\r\nThe next morning we found this note and business card in an envelope on the seat of the 2-Eleven. It was a hand written note from Clive Chapman himself who Nick Adams had introduced me to the day before.\r\n\r\nI still have the letter and those lines you see are just folds in the paper.\r\n\r\nThe note says\r\n\r\nWe imagine you are not from round here; because round here you would NOT stick your REDACTED motor vehicle in parking reserved for those less fortunate than ourselves.
