Here's what I know. This bike was stored along with a 1987 BMW M6 which was sold here on BAT, https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1987-bmw-m6-128/ , a couple of Porsches, and a few other bikes in a heated dry garage. When I brought the bike to my shop the fuel was drained, it was still clear, and didn't smell like varnish. We installed the new battery, removed the spark plugs and lubed the top end, added new fuel to an empty tank, the bike fired right up, smoking a bit till it burned off the oil we had squirted into each cylinder. We started the bike today and rode it .2 of a mile and the ABS lights were on until the bike came up to speed, and stayed off. \r\nI have cleaned the bike but have not detailed it. Added today are pictures of the chrome in various spots on the bike. Someone with smaller hands can do a more thorough job polishing between the spokes. A bit of time and some chrome polish should make this bike detail like it was in the showroom. \r\nThe PPF applied on the drive shaft housing tube has lost its shine and is discolored from the wiring harness rubber coating \r\nI have not seen any deterioration of the wiring harness anywhere. \r\nThe tool kit is as installed under the left side cover, there are two keys and the original receipt for the purchase of the bike on October 17, 1998. \r\nA video will be added later this AM. It is a short walk around while the bike was idling after our brief ride this AM. It cold starts instantly, and responds to throttle after a minute or two of idling. Purchased with 4 miles on the odometer, ridden 5 miles from the dealer to the sellers residence and parked. We drained the fuel tank, inspected it internally with a borescope, and it appears that BMW must seal and coated the fuel tank as part of their building process. The entire inner surfaces of the tank are a solid brown color. The tires are as installed by BMW in 1998, yes they 27 years old. They never went flat and have no dry rot cracking.
