I have an Italian 1976 126 with enough upgrades to make it silly (Weber dcoe, big exhaust, lowered, etc.), but it is incredibly fun to take out and gets far more attention from a very different crowd than most of my other \"more interesting\" classics. These cars can drive in modern traffic but are more or a city car than a real highway cruiser. That said, we used it as our run-around car for Monterey Car Week last year and I did have it out on the highways in that area with no problem, including with hills, though you aren't generally going much more than 60 MPH. The short wheelbase also makes it entertaining to drive. Hitting a speed bump can be an adventure as by the time the front wheels have cleared it, the rear wheels are starting to go up it, It's also one of the few cars that you spend most of your time driving it with the pedal mashed to the floor. I'm 6 foot, 240 something mumble pounds and fit just fine with room to spare. Apart from Tom Hanks getting a donated 126p, this model fame is very high in Poland where I live. While folks in USA could spend generations debating Camaro vs Mustang, my father's genereation had rather 126p vs other 126p dillemas. These cars were driven, tuned and rallied.
