I have an 83 SX4 5 speed. The conversion to Clifford manifold and dual Webers will keep this out of CA, but must do wonders for performance. These were the doldrum performance years for smog control. My SX4 came with an electronic carburetor connected to a rudimentary \"computer\" and yards of vacuum lines. The net effect was constant tinkering just to keep it running. I converted to fuel injection using the 4.0 cylinder head and ECU from a junkyard Cherokee, and there were several to choose from. These have selectable 4WD utilizing a silicon filled \"viscous coupling\" which allows you to run 4WD on the pavement. Great for the shoulder seasons when meltwater still freezes overnight. A lot of these also have Ziebart galvanized dipped bodies. What a beauty, gleaming in all it's 80's splendor! Both of those transmissions require a kick down lever to control both the shift points, and the kick down. I think that is the source of the non kick down issue. it also makes the transmission short shift gears and generally lugs the transmission.... which is not good for the bands or clutches.\r\n\r\nAlso the video suggests it came OEM with fuel injection.
