Dale passed away about 2 years ago. \r\nThe Morgan Plus 8 was Dales pride and joy; he cherished this car up to the time he passed away. It's a very solid and cared for Morgan and ran as good as it looks two years ago when I last saw it at a British Car Show. It's a very ORIGINAL car with low miles. If I recall the interior and exterior was VERY original (with some paint touch-up / patina). \r\nDale owned it for close to 20 years; I saw it many times at the British Car Shows here in the Midwest. Dale would show this, another 3 wheel Morgan, and an XK150 Jaguar at various shows. If I recall he was the second owner and purchased it back in the 90's. \r\nAnd it looks like the current owner has also cared for it well ----- new tires, shocks, etc. etc. I'm glad to see someone is taking good care of it; hopefully the new owner will do the same. Dale and his family would be happy to know this. And from what the current owner has indicated it's been serviced by a well known Morgan expert in the Atalanta area ----- it shouldn't have needed much knowing Dale but there's always ways to enhance our British Classics. Dale was an excellent mechanic and a MASTER at creating beautiful elegant sculptures out of rare exotic wood. Most of us had never seen a Morgan Plus 8, any Morgans in our local clubs were either Plus 4's or the 3 wheeled Morgans. \r\nAnyway I called a good friend of Dales this evening, who knew Dale and the car better than I did, and asked him to explain to me what carburetor was in the car. He said that these cars came with SU Carbs but what some people did, as Dale did, was to have Holly 4 barrel carburetors put in them with EdelBrock aluminum intake manifolds. He said Dale was always interested in enhancing the car's performance. He said that this enhancement increased the horse power by as much as 40-50 hp. I hope that answers your question. He made a list of things that needed to be done for me, a non mechanical person, to run the car safely. We did everything on his list including but not limited to ignition components, tune-up, replacing the tires, belts, hoses, shock absorbers, battery, windshield wipers & fluids & repairing some wiring and added wiring for a trickle charger. Since I\u2019ve owned the car, I\u2019ve always kept the car in a safe, dry garage, have not driven her in any inclement weather & have enjoyed taking her to classic car shows to show her off. I\u2019d really like to keep her for all the fun, but my mother had a stroke last April & any \u2018spare\u2019 time I have-and I work full time-is spent caring for mother. MsMorgan deserves to be owned and cared for by someone who can lovingly take her out on a sunny Sunday afternoon drive or go on a rally to be shown off. I\u2019ve regularly kept her cleaned, dusted, polished & have conditioned the leather interior. When not being driven, she is covered & dry in the garage. In October, the bushings in the transmission were replaced. My goal throughout was to have a safe, well running and RELIABLE car. In the long term, maybe US available alloy chassis Morgans (yes, with wood in the bodywork), including the new +6 with BMW power. \r\nThese Italians seem to have good luck with car and motorcycle companies, including Aston Martin and Ducati. They back winners. Morgan's management is still in place and the Family is still holding a share of the company. And, now they have some money to develop product. \r\n\r\nAs for this Morgan, it's pretty nice. It appears to have been properly cared for, and not driven in rain or salted roads in Winter (and who would do that with a Morgan, anyway?). I am sure that the wood is in good shape. \r\n\r\nThe shock mounted DOT bumpers can be replaced with the older style under body mounts. The rear holes in the bodywork can be filled with running lights, while the fronts can be replaced with small grilles, or running lights as well. Morgan Motors and Morgan West, as well as any of the US Morgan dealers can help with these parts. Most of the +8s I have seen have had just the front bumper shocks removed and the earlier under body mountings installed. \r\n\r\nAnd, the cars look really great without bumpers at all. Come to think of it, taking off the windshield and putting on a pair of Brooklands Screens is also very attractive. \r\n\r\nThe engine compartment on this car is nicely squared away, but the lack of the original fuel injection may make registration in California difficult (but not impossible). The car can be registered if you can't find the appropriate parts. This is a DMV/BAR thing that would be researched. You may be able to register the car with an MSD or Edelbrock throttle body injection system that is self programming (and it works really well, btw), retaining the original cats and adding an evap system if one is not already fitted, but this is just a EWAG on my part. I bet it would pass on the smog machine, and the BAR may issue a sticker. The systems have EO numbers for California, but they are not Morgan specific. It depends on the BAR that examines and tests the car. \r\n\r\nThis car may go for more than twice the current bid. The real money comes out in the last half hour. But then, all you BaTeronies know that, right? Its the original gas to propane that takes an expert like Bill Fink.\r\nWhen you first remove the propane equipment you find an engine that is so clean inside that you would swear it was new. Nothing internally has to be touched. All that you need is the carburator, intake manifold, fuel line, fuel tank, and fuel pump. Havent done this in a while so I may have left something out. Yes, this car was worth quite a bit more. \r\n\r\nA lot of Morgns were converted from propane back to gasoline, and it didn't have any effect on the price at all (other than enhancing it). It was not a difficult setup to reverse if you had the fuel tank. \r\n\r\nThis one went from fuel injection to an Edelbrock carb, most likely with an automatic choke. Still not a problem other than in CA or MA. And, there are parts around to convert it back to fuel injection, if you want that. \r\n\r\n+8s are usually going for around $65~70K, and more. Sometimes, the buyers are not at BaT. At least not for this desirable Morgan. \r\nThe +8s are not going to be \"affordable\" for much longer. \r\n\r\nAnd, I still don't know what a \"+4 Tribute\" would be. What? A +4, but new? Isn't that the whole Morgan thing? Old, but, well...
