The next owner will have a 90%+ finished Morgan they can finish out the way they want without having to spend too much money. It was restored in 2005 and if you look at the pics in the listing you\u2019ll be able to see for yourself. It does need the brakes redone because the brakes that were added are aero brakes and are too big. The fender was damaged when the brake issue arose and I bumped my other car. As I stated earlier I would\u2019ve just fixed it, and for less than 10k I could\u2019ve had a Concourse Morgan RHD Plus 8 Roadster. But unfortunately life has another plan for me and another owner for this beautiful Morgan. While repairing or replacing the fender the new owner can just paint the car their desired color. Have a good mechanic who knows this engine to tune it up and give her a good once over and she will be ready to rip up the roads. The power switch was somehow left on (kids playing I think) and since then I charged the battery and it didn\u2019t charge. Before that back in March it fired up and ran fine. These models do tend to run hot and it\u2019s no different. The brakes actually work sort of, but the only rust on the car is under the brake fluid reservoir, so I didn\u2019t add any fluid after the brakes went out on me pulling in the driveway. Below is email from owner before me about the brakes. \r\nBrakes.\r\nThe brakes were originally a single circuit with an outboard vacuum\r\nbooster. The kind of booster in volvos and some other british cars of the\r\nday. \r\n\r\nI removed the single cylinder (I think it was 5/8 inch or maybe 3/4 inch\r\ndiameter) and tried to replace it with the integrated, dual-circuit booster\r\nfrom a later car. Unfortunately, there was no room for it between the\r\nbell-housing/starter and the frame rail.\r\n\r\nI had to remove the booster and replace it with a Wilwood dual mcyl.\r\nUnfortunately, the Wilwood is a 1 inch, which is way too big. It takes a\r\nlot of pedal pressure. There are smaller mcyls available. GOMOG.ORG is a\r\nuseful resource. My next step would be to find a much smaller m-cyl (the\r\nmath says it needs to be about 1/2 inch) or to buy a pair of boosters - one\r\nfor the rear circuit, one for the front, and mount them under the hood.\r\n\r\nBeware that the car is a mix of everything. Chassis screw threads are all\r\nWhitworth (for example, the pedal box). The 'modern' parts are SAE. The GM\r\ntransmission is metric. \r\n\r\nIt needs a new copper crush washer because it\u2019s recommended to replace every oil change, but unfortunately the one on it has been used a couple times. It\u2019s not a bad leak and I\u2019ve never seen oil myself, but I was advised from the previous owner it did have a small leak. \r\n\r\n I will say this, I drove it in the subdivision maybe 15 times back and forth. The previous owner put 6500 miles on it in 8 years of driving from 2005 - 2013. Since then it\u2019s been driven once a month a mile and back for the most part. Took it to my uncle shop in March and it hasn\u2019t been driven since after the brakes went out. As far as I know and from the previous owner who bought it in 1999 and restored it in 2005 until me now it\u2019s in great shape and just needs a mechanic who knows the engine to give it a once over and tune it up and she should be ready to go. \r\n\r\nThe wood frame part I\u2019ll honestly say that all I personally know about that is I was told he spent no expense and restored it to be a daily driver and he had 50k in the car. That it was and is in perfect working condition. My fender bender because of the brakes is the only flaw other than needing a good tune up and once over adjustment. \r\n\r\nI\u2019m more than happy to copy and paste the emails from the previous owner containing info on the car. I'd recommend a 5/8\" brake master for non power assist, or 3/4\" if you revert back to power brakes. The 60's Aston Martins used 2 Girling boosters, but they would take up a lot of space in a Morgan. Only way to use a single booster would be a direct acting unit and I doubt there is room, or reverting back to a single circuit brake system and using a new powerstop remote booster... So I definitely understand why you asked the question you did. I apologize if I came across any way but polite. I copied the history I was given from the previous owner below. To my knowledge everything he said I have found to be true about the car. I took many pics under the car for the listing and also used the dollies to get it a little higher up to take pics. Plus they made it easier to move it around as well. Being in my uncle body shop he has many cars coming in and out. I grew up with him and my grandpa restoring old cars, but 57 Chevy and 67 camaro with a few chop top 39 and 37 fords. So we know cars, but mainly domestic. But I\u2019ll say this, I may not know much about Morgan, but I know this car was restored from frame up and done pretty well. Here is the email the previous owner sent me on its History.\r\n\r\nI bought the car from Octagon Motors in Felton PA in 1997. The previous\r\nowner was a history prof at Millersville University in Lancaster PA. The\r\nhistory prof told me he'd had the car about 20 years, but had not driven\r\nit\r\nmuch. In turn, he'd bought it from a stockbroker in NY. I think the\r\nstockbroker is the original owner. He bought it in RHD in the UK, and\r\ntransferred it to the USA when he moved here for his job.\r\n\r\n\r\nI have the car's build history (somewhere - still lots of stuff in boxes).\r\nFrom memory, the car was built in 1973, delivered in January 1974. \r\nOriginal color was Signal Red with white upholstery. That makes it a\r\ntransition car, in this sense: the factory changed a lot of things between\r\n1973 and 1974. In particular, the chassis started to be threaded SAE\r\ninstead of Whitworth. The Girling disc calipers are threaded Whitworth,\r\nwith SAE threaded hoses. Starting in 1974, the calipers were threaded SAE\r\nwith metric brake hoses.\r\n\r\nI think the odometer was 58000 when I bought it.\r\n\r\nIn 2005/2006, with about 62000 on the odometer, I decided to turn it into\r\na daily driver. Brakes on these cars are simple and inexpensive to repair. A used battery could cost $50. That would get the car running so potential buyers would have some sense of what they are getting. There's a speedometer take off gear in the tail housing held in place by a clip. \nEmail from previous owner also: \nIn 2005/2006, with about 62000 on the odometer, I decided to turn it into\na daily driver. A car is for driving, after all. Motor completely\nrebuilt.\nReplace gearbox, suspension, cooling, steering etc etc. Dual circuit\nbrakes for safety. Scuttle roll bar for rigidity. Here is how this happened, my client bought this gentleman\u2019s house. Once everything was done on that transaction the only thing he had to move to his new house was this car and had to get it to his new house an hour away. his new house was on the lake and he didn\u2019t have a place to store the car. I asked him about the car and he said he was to old to keep it up and he had the same issue here in Alabama I had, which is finding someone who knows the engine well enough to work on it. He had the restoration done by a man that had since passed in the 15+ years since the restoration. We got to talking about the car and he gave me a great deal on it because he had no kids and didn\u2019t want the car to go to waist. He was supposed to find and get me the paperwork from the restoration, but he said in his move they got lost. Personally I trusted the man because of several things that happened during the real estate transaction. He had a mason come fix some brick work. My client saw the pic (she was moving from Maryland to work for the FBI here in Huntsville) and was fine with the work. The gentleman wasn\u2019t happy that the brick work was good enough and color didn\u2019t quite match perfectly. Even though my client approved the brick work he hired a separate mason to come back after the first and completely redo the brick work. I had gotten to know him fairly well because of my client being out of state and I previewed the home 3 times ( he was retired engineer and was home every time) and couldn\u2019t leave because he talked my head off for 2 hours at least each time. Then a whole day on home inspection (3k square foot 40-50 year old house) I was there with him. I had to do the request for repairs and be in charge of going to complete final walk through. Also 1/2 a day for the geothermal HVAC inspection. Between the showings and all the other times I had to go there I spent at least 30 hours getting to know him and his entire family history from the 300 year old grandfather clocks his great great grandfather build with his on hands. This house was over 40 years old and I only had 10 items on my request for repairs and 5 of those was to bring old things that worked perfectly fine up to code. Even the inspector said the house was taken care of better than any house he had inspected. It was better than any new home I had a client by. Until I made a huge mistake getting into a relationship and moving to another state I sold over 50 homes for a new home builder/developer. Everything he had done to the house was top quality and done professionally. The VA tried a drive by appraisal and didn\u2019t inspect because they were too behind and appraised Lamaist 30k low. I had to respond to tide water program for the VA to challenge the appraisal. Once I wrote my report and explained the house and sent in the comps the ordered a new one and inspected. The inspection came back clean and it appraised and my client got the house. I only explain that because with the deal he gave me on the car and everything that happened I trusted him. Why would his 40 year old home be in such good shape and the car he called his baby not be? His first car a Morgan and he bought this and restored it because he truly loved it. He only sold it to me and for the deal I got was because he had no kids to will it too and didn\u2019t want the state to end up with it and was getting to the point he was too old to keep it up. I hate the starter is messed up and I hate I don\u2019t have those documents because they got misplaced in his move. The kind of booster in volvos and some other british cars of the\r\nday. \r\n\r\nI removed the single cylinder (I think it was 5/8 inch or maybe 3/4 inch\r\ndiameter) and tried to replace it with the integrated, dual-circuit booster\r\nfrom a later car. Unfortunately, there was no room for it between the\r\nbell-housing/starter and the frame rail.\r\n\r\nI had to remove the booster and replace it with a Wilwood dual mcyl.\r\nUnfortunately, the Wilwood is a 1 inch, which is way too big. It takes a\r\nlot of pedal pressure. There are smaller mcyls available. GOMOG.ORG is a\r\nuseful resource. My next step would be to find a much smaller m-cyl (the\r\nmath says it needs to be about 1/2 inch) or to buy a pair of boosters - one\r\nfor the rear circuit, one for the front, and mount them under the hood.\r\n\r\nBeware that the car is a mix of everything. Chassis screw threads are all\r\nWhitworth (for example, the pedal box). The 'modern' parts are SAE. It needs to\r\nbe cinched down. \r\n\r\nThe other is from the drain plug. I called XM to say the radio was\r\nfried, and to transfer my subscription to another unit. Apparently, they\r\ndid not send a deactivate. So when I replaced the Pioneer, the tuner came\r\nonline right away. It was still working at the time you got the car. So,\r\nenjoy it while you can! Water pump rebuilt late 2019 \u2013 a few\r\nmiles ago. While I was at it, I refitted the timing cover and replaced the\r\nfront seal. The coolant is regular green. Thermostat is 180. \r\nThere is no catch tank. In the 1970s they just let any excess dump out to\r\nthe road. When I had the car worked on in 2005/2006, I got a catch tank\r\nthat fits nicely down behind the rad. But in 2019, when I worked on the\r\nfront of the motor, I had the rad and everything else back in place before\r\nI realized that I could no longer jiggle it back into place.\r\n\r\nA/C. \r\nThe A/C is not original. I had it put in because I wanted a daily driver\r\nthat was not unbearable in hot, muggy weather. The hoses were poorly\r\ninstalled, abrading at multiple points. The A/C needs to be charged. I\r\nhave temporarily moved the spade connectors at the high/low pressure\r\ncut-out switch so that the fans & vacuum operate even though there is no\r\nbelt. \r\n\r\nIf I were to keep the car, I would remove the AC completely. It is one\r\nmore thing to go wrong. Morgans, with their crowded engine bay and narrow\r\ncowl are hard to keep cool, and having a condenser in front of the rad\r\ndoesn't help. That explains the double fans. One of them could be removed.\r\n\r\nWiring\r\nAt the shop that installed the AC, they ran a stout red wire from the\r\nbattery up to the engine bay. That wire is still there, but no longer\r\nused. Instead, I ran a stout brown wire down to the battery lug on the\r\nstarter. The ring terminal that I used at the starter end of that brown\r\nwire is too thin and will probably fail through vibration and metal\r\nfatigue. It needs to be replaced with a much stouter part. \r\n\r\nThe original alternator was a 38 amp unit. No match for the added fans\r\netc. I fitted a single-terminal 120 amp unit from a Saturn. \r\n\r\nThere was no safe way to run the extra stuff from the existing wiring\r\nloom. I added a relay and a fuse block to handle the load. There are\r\nactually two relays, one is not used. I just put it there while I was at\r\nit. The new relay provides ignition-switched 12 volts, that comes straight\r\nfrom the battery lug on the starter. The current draw does not come\r\nthrough the ammeter on the dash. So when you turn the fans on, the current\r\nindicated by the ammeter jumps up. \r\n\r\nThe BLUE wire from the battery cut-off switch goes to two places \u2013 the\r\nclock and the radio. It is not exposed anywhere else.
