Right up there with the Matra Djet.\r\n\r\nI am by no means an A110 expert, but I have been a French car guy for many decades. The front and rear suspension on these cars is from the Renault R8 and R10, although the rear has the five speed transmission from the R8 Gordini with dual rear shocks. If my memory is correct, the R8Gordini (and, I thought, the A110) had plated front a-frames. I notice this one does not have that??\r\n\r\nOne of my life's regrets is selling my 1969 R8G 1300 in the early 2000's. I used to autocross it in Vermont and New Hampshire. What a blast. As a reviewer once said \"the fastest car to the other side of the crosswalk\". And the R8G weighed 1800lbs, not 1400 like the A110. \r\nAnd this A110 has the 1600cc, not the 1300cc that my R8G had. That's good for another 20 hp or so.\r\nAfter the R8G, I got an unrunning Lotus Europa, which, in stock form has a non hemi version of the engine in the A110. Same short block, different head. I am now running the europa with a hemi head that I have built up to 1796cc (largest you can go without staggering the pistons) My Europa puts down 161hp at the wheels, which must be close to 190hp at the crank. And it, in stock form, is around 1350lbs! Mine comes in around 1600lbs with full cage, five speed, fuel injection, dry sump, etc. Still a rocket!\r\n\r\nIt makes my heart beat fast to think of my engine in this beautiful car! Save the original one for resale. \r\nWhoever gets this car is one lucky guy! Such a beautiful specimen. \r\nNew owner....please drive it occasionally. The car has the smaller breaks coming from R8 and carries the small 5-speed gear box type 353, which is absolutely period correct. \r\nThis is a stunning original example of an absolutely period correct A110 1600S.
