This geniune 6800 mile, original paint throughout and UNRESTORED MGC GT has been with us for a few years. We bought the car from the legacy of the late Dave Hardwick from Skellingthorpe United Kingdom.\r\nA man with who I was personally close with and from who I was able to buy my ultimate dream car, a Singer Le Mans 1 1/2. \r\nDave Hardwick was a specialist in Singer Le Mans, the go to man regarding parts for this pre-war gem. He bought this MGC from the dealer in 1970, with a big discount as these cars were not easy to sell when production had already ended. I know Dave was always in for a good deal so the fact that the dealer was stuck with this MGC worked in his favour!\r\nAs Dave collected more and more salvage Singer Le Mans in the seventies, this MG was pushed further and further into the back of the narrow (but very deep) garage behind his house. Only a few seasons the car was used, also confirmed by his son Steve who was twelve at the time his dad bought this wonderful Mineral Blue GT.\r\nWhen Dave passed away in 2014 the family had a big task in clearing out whatever Dave collected in all his years of Singer duty. Underneath some scaffolding holding up several Singer Le Mans bodies, an MGC GT appeared covered in dusty blankets. A very interesting discovery as the car had a mileage of 4926 miles at that time in 2014!\r\nDave had covered these miles in the early seventies, took the car off the road in '77 (which can be seen in the logbook when it was last Tax'd) and kept it away dry for all these years.\r\nAs mentioned below here, indeed the car had an anti rust protection in 1970, as told by his son Steve, straight from the dealership where the car was delivered. I was allowed to drive it during the Historic Grand Prix weekend, where the first European BaT Gathering was held. Between my hometown and Zandvoort is a perfect mix of roads. It was a treat to take this C. \r\n\r\nThe MGC drives like a new car. Just like Geert mentioned, there are no rattles or squeeks. Over the years I drove serveral MGBs, so this was my first outing with the straight six and also my first GT experience. \r\n\r\nWhen I saw reactions below about the \"missing\" overdrive I assumed people were talking about another car, because the gears are PERFECT on this C. In the video the Seller talks about the difference between US and EU/UK versions, which makes sense now. I have no experience with the US version, but at the highway in fourth gear this C remains smooth and powerful, far below the high rev range. It reminded me of 4th gear in my Rover P6 3500 S (manual, high output). You really get the feeling of driving a proper British Gran Turismo. A car that likes to drive on the open road, on long distances at a rapid pace and even twisty backroads. It's sheer driving pleasure in each and every gear. I had two US market MGC-GT, owned both from 1978 until 2020. 1968 was an early serial number with no overdrive. 1969 had overdrive and was from near end of production. A few improvements were made through the years. In 1979 I drove 68 year model from Texas to Wisconsin and back. Cruised 80 to 90 MPH most of the way with no problems. Near 3000 miles round trip. Early model had higher ratio rear differential so cruised fine without overdrive. Had several MGB through the years, they are nimbler around town and twisty back roads but not as comfortable highway cruiser as MGC. Both MGC had well over 100,000 miles when sold with great dependability with expected maintenance like water pumps, alternator rebuild and normal things that wear out or just need replacing due to years. Have owned many right hand drive cars and only takes a short time to become normal. If you are right-handed you will likely like driving with right hand and shifting with left better.
