They look gawky and all ungainly in photos. They think it is a sports car with two seats. In real life it is impossibly low and swoopy. People just drop jaws when they see you pass. Use the rifle bolt action gear lever to drop some cogs and plant the driving moc into the carpet. Epic V12 wails away in front of you and she just hauls. Sensory heaven. \r\n\r\nWell into triple digits, its tracking rock steady with just a slight squirm from the 70 series profile tires. I just need to point out that the comment about SV cams is not correct. All three versions of the Miura had the same cams, and remarkably they are the same as the Espada. My source is this came from Bob Wallace and Bill Young of GT Car parts. You can prove this further by visiting Eurospares.com and seeing that the factory part numbers are the same. Also, I grew up with an Islero and have owned two Miuras and have never seen a black interior on an Espada. The Espada interior is expensive to retrim and its all but certain that this was dyed/spray black. That said, an Espada is a wonderful way to enter 4 cam, V12, Vintage Lamborghini ownership. It was made by Ferruccio Lamborghini and not VW/Audi. Buy one. They are great cars and a great value.\n\nIf you want to know *why* I think so, read on, otherwise, the sentences above capture my thoughts.\n\nEven if some additional work is needed, such as the A/C (Vintage Air might be a good option), these are such cool cars. For what they offer, they are woefully undervalued. They may never see the lofty values of many iconic cars such as Miura, Daytona, Countach, but like the Ghibli, these are terrific values.\n\nThere have been 12 previous Espada auctions on BaT since 2015. That is 13 cars in about 8 years. Not exactly frequent buying opportunities. In comparison, there have been 29 Countachs, 20 Daytonas but only 1 Miura auctioned on BaT.\n\nThe Espada is rare, 1,226 built per the Lamborghini web site. There were about two hundred more Daytonas built and about 700 hundred more of the Countach. Granted the Miura had a lower production, but it might well be that there are fewer remaining road-worthy Espadas than Miuras. In any case, these are rare cars.\n\nReasons to buy:\n\n1) They are cool (yes I acknowledge it is a polarizing design).\n2) The V12 is a marvel. The induction sound of the 6 Webers is intoxicating. Take it to 6k or above and enjoy the sounds.\n3) It really does seat four adults.\n4) It is perfectly usable as a daily driver. Great for grocery shopping. It *is* a hatchback and from the back of the car you can reach all the way to the back seat for extra storage for your grocery bags.\n5) It drives reasonably \"modern\".\n6) It is fast, just not modern day hyper fast. About 6 or so seconds to 60, but it has good performance from 60 or 80 up to \"go to jail\" speeds\". No it is not a modern Porsche Turbo, but you don't buy a 1970s Italian car to compete with those.\n7) Handling is quite neutral and it corners surprisingly \"flat\".\n8) It offers awesome value for a genuine \"Italian Royalty\" brand with a V12 from the golden era of Italian sports cars.\n9) It is a sound design and the engine is quite stout. Once up to proper condition it should be fairly trouble free.\n10) It is DIY friendly. You can probably do most maintenance and many repairs yourself ***provided you have the proper guidance***! See below re \"VLG\". That is a must for a DIY approach.\n\nSome caveats:\n1) Brakes are not quite up to modern standards, but this is true for most cars of this vintage.\n2) It *does* cost a good chunk to run, but cheaper to run if you use it regularly than if it stays parked until refurbishment is needed. But when he went to collect the car he saw the Green Espada. He was a neurosurgeon practiced in Downey California. We lived in Whittier and the car was never garaged it developed rust on the roof vent and went to be fixed. The body guy decided matching the paint would be too hard and repainted the whole car a champagne gold green. He hated it never saw him that mad. Litterly demanded it go immediately to be repainted. He had a young medical student he liked oversee the color change, motor repair and the removal of the boar hide interior that stunk like pig when warm. \r\n\r\nHe had it done in dark blue and Lite blue leather matching factory and dark blue carpets. It was stunning.\r\n\r\nWe found the overdyed dry leather in the car was once Lite blue.\r\n\r\nThis for me was - is a very emotional day!! 30 years searching and here it is!\r\n\r\nSide note my mother was laid to rest at a very old cemetery not too far from where we inspected the car, Her headstone was fully covered and we found her too. What a day!!\r\n\r\nRespecting the owner and his auction I will bid more.
