DB used to like to use the 1965 head on 9xxcc/1 litre hot rod engines for torque. In 1967 the oil injected standard had the same displacement head as a 1966-67 MC engine, we checked these. I think DB also checked the port sizes on those blocks and found them to be virtually identical. He used to massage the transfer port on all of them. In the case of the engine in the 2020 auction it is a 1965 MC850/Sport block and head by the numbers. I'm the person that sold this MC850 to the seller ~2 years ago. I purchased this MC850 in 2014 knowing that is a rare special car and had the intention to bring to a level that it is currently at. After having the car for 8 years I began to realize that my intentions were not going to come to fruition so I put it up for sale with the hope to find someone that could bring it to a level were it needs to be and that is when I met this seller. After speaking with him, I strongly felt that this is the guy that has the ability and know-how to get the job done and he did the heavy lifting that brought this car to a very good state. I know that there may be a few things can be done to even make it better, but they are minor. The heavy lifting has been done, there is no reserve price and the winner of the auction will get a GREAT rare car in terrific condition and with little effort can bring to a even higher level, but more important they will be able to enjoy it right after arrives at your home. I loved pulling up beside the guys with their 57 Chevys at a stop light, and lighting up the front wheels when the light turned green. So much fun to see the looks on their faces. Remember, there were no front wheel drive cars at that time. I always coveted a Monte Carlo.
