While it is not in the GS family like the other bikes you've acquired on @BaT I can assure you that any solid 55-69 BMW twin will do well if taken out onto unpaved roads. \r\n\r\nMy very first introduction to BMW Motorcycles was back when I was about 9 or 10 years old. A neighbor's house that I walked past on my way to elementary school each day had one parked in the carport. I would admire it from time to time and one afternoon on the way home the owner was doing something to the bike. He saw me and waved me over. He was the son of the home's owner who decades later I got to fly with in his Cessna, but back to the BMW.\r\n\r\nIt was an R60 from around 1960-62 I know this now because when I flew with his father he showed me photos he took of his son riding the bike) and he took it out to a nearby abandoned housing development/construction site (no hanky panky, just being a cool older kid in the neighborhood) all the time. I asked if I could watch him ride sometime and he said sure. True to his word he let me know one afternoon on my way home from school a few days before his next adventure and we met there. It was less than a half mile from our homes since I lived just a block away. \r\n\r\nWish I had a camera back then because he would ride around on all that dirt and use some of the larger dips and mounds to get the bike airborne for 5-15 feet. I was seriously impressed that a bike that appeared that big and heavy - remember I'm just a kid - could do that.
