I had one back in the day. Most Mierenneukers do not understand quite how unique this is. This was the first twin motorcycle BMW made after World War II. It was basically reverse engineered from the rubble and remains of the pre war 1938-1940 R51. Looking at photos of each there is little change. It is the Missing Link. Only 5005 of these were built. Out of that number there are few that survived. There is no trace of one ever being offered on @BaT until this one has surfaced here now, The time and effort that was put in this machine is a daunting task that few would survive. The pin strip is correct and well executed. The correct pre '55 Everbest dual spigot petcock is easy tofind. The oil pan is a replacement, but the original lower capacity version is easy to find, same as any plunger twin. R51/3 and R51/2 rear fenders are the same. The correct taillamp is easy to find is same a Steib sidecar, but the '55-'57 housing is place is appropriate if a rear brake light is used. If it's a later R51 or R51/2 tank is a meaningless distinction.
