Note: once the PB\u2019s came out, these earlier P Types were referred to as PA\u2019s, not before that. 1097 looks like a nice little driver (and they are \u201clittle\u201d! My 49 TC dwarfs the PA when they are side by side). Per your questions, The P Types are a just few inches smaller in every dimension in comparison to a TC but it really adds up (or should I say down) to a world of difference in complexity, parts and maintenance cost, availability of those parts, etc. As nice a driver as this PA is and taking nothing away from it, I would strongly recommend a TC over it as for what I must assume you are looking for in a vintage MG. My PA is a absolute concours example, of which I can take no credit for as the previous owner was the gentleman who spent well over $80,000.00 to take it from a very tired relic, to the status that it now holds, including several Best of Show\u2019s, etc. It reminds me of a fine piece of jewelry in scale and finish, to be enjoyed and appreciated, but pampered in its care and use , as opposed to my TC that I\u2019ve owned for over forty years that can be considered as a fun, daily driver that still draws admiring glances at \u201ccars and coffee\u201d events but certainly has more than its share of dings and minor scars from its nearly daily summer use in all those years. It\u2019s well loved, has never left me marooned on a back road somewhere, and has acquired parts from every page of the Moss catalog in that period of time. It\u2019s always been a running restoration by me personally, never a full frame up, but includes some two paint jobs, a rebuilt engine, new wiring, brakes, upholstery, etc. when and as needed. The \u201cT\u201dseries MG\u2019s are the champs when it comes to a high enjoyment factor combined with simplicity, reliability and reasonable initial and annual cost investment. I\u2019m babbling on too long here because I\u2019ve enjoyed my brood of 5 MG\u2019s, plus a TR3, 100-4 Healey so much, two of which were BaT wins. So Rick, find and enjoy that TC that you deserve. You\u2019ll never be sorry for the decision. It needed total restoration, a job far beyond my skill set. I also had a chance to squeeze myself into a J3, the model that proceeded the P series at a car show, and concluded that I am too large by far. It helps if your physique matches that of the typical pre-war Englishman, say 5'-6\" and under 180 lbs.\r\nIf you join the Registry they will send you a copy of the factory records which list the original chassis, body, and engine number as well as the date of build, the original colours and the name and address of the first owner and selling dealer.\r\nFor example for PA 453 the engine number was 703 AP and the body number was 275/201. The data card clearly shows that the chassis was PA453, so the PA designation was used all along. The windshield wipers are not working as the vehicle needs new wires run to the wiper motor. The speedometer works.
