Sitting in the grass at a Mecum Collector Car auction, circa late 1980s....\n\nRob says, \"We'll, I jumped off the deep end!\" I asked what he had done.... \" We bought a Mercedes Benz franchise!\" \n\nWhat do these and hundreds of other memories have to do with this truck?\n\nIt was one of the last items he ordered that year before he passed. I believe they had a total of 4 with this being the last one. \n\nI have to imagine that thousands of you, like me, received or sent your previous cars in this or one of the other 3 over the last 20 years!\n\nSo when Anies (with the company since 1988) asked me if I wanted to buy it, I immediately said yes. But Rob's younger brother Geoff had a better idea. Which isn't terribly expensive. \n\nAs you consider tying up $300-400k for something new, think about the maintenance cost on this truck being $15k-$20k a year if you run it like the first owners did. Approximately 40k miles per year or, $20k \u00f7 40k miles = .50 cents a mile.\n\nThis engine is running great and does not currently need an in frame rebuild. If it did, budget another $25k-30k max.
